Entity Type Choice

The first step in configuring a Federation Manager entity is to establish the entity type (local or remote) and determine the entity role (asserting party or relying party).

To establish the entity type

1. Log in to the Federation Manager UI.
2. From the Federation tab, select Entities.

   The Federation Entity List dialog opens.

3. Click Create Entity.

   The Create Entity dialog displays.

   Note: You can click Help for a description of fields, controls, and their respective requirements.

4. Select one of the following:
   • Local

     Indicates that you are creating an entity that is local to your site.

   • Remote

     Indicates that you are configuring an entity that represents the partner at the remote site.

5. Identify whether you are configuring the asserting party (SAML 1.1 Producer or SAML 2.0 IdP) or the relying party (SAML 1.1 Consumer or SAML 2.0 SP) by setting the New Entity Type.
6. Click Next to configure specifics about the entity.
