These instructions are for GUI and Console Mode installations on Solaris systems. The steps for the two modes are the same, with the following exceptions for Console Mode:
Important!
Do not install Federation Manager on a system where the SiteMinder Policy Server or Secure Proxy Server (SPS) is already installed. Installing Federation Manager on a SiteMinder system could negatively impact the existing SiteMinder installation.
Do not install Federation Manager on a system where there is an existing Apache Web Server or Apache Tomcat Server.
Do not install SiteMinder or the Secure Proxy Server on a system where Federation Manager is installed, as this might have an adverse effect on Federation Manager.
Do not install Federation Manager as the root user. If you try to install as root, the installation aborts and you receive an error message. Instead, create a new user account with the default shell as ksh to install Federation Manager.
Federation Manager cannot operate on Solaris 9 platforms using any port below 1024. This limitation includes the default Apache HTTP port (80) and the default Apache SSL port (443).
To install Federation Manager on Solaris
chmod +x ca-fedmgr-12.1-sol.bin
The Federation Manager installation wizard starts.
In the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. You have to go to the end of the agreement before you can choose to accept or not accept the license.
Important! If Federation Manager is interacting with a SiteMinder installation, remember to check the SiteMinder Connector checkbox along with whichever deployment mode you choose.
The Federation Manager installation program runs.
If you experience problems during the installation, review the installation log file CA_Federation_Manager_InstallLog.log, which is in the directory federation_mgr_home/install_config_info.
After the installation is complete, continue by running the Configuration wizard.
Important! To change the deployment mode, uninstall Federation Manager from your system before running a new installation.
