Install Federation Manager on Solaris

These instructions are for GUI and Console Mode installations on Solaris systems. The steps for the two modes are the same, with the following exceptions for Console Mode:

Important!

Do not install Federation Manager on a system where the SiteMinder Policy Server or Secure Proxy Server (SPS) is already installed. Installing Federation Manager on a SiteMinder system could negatively impact the existing SiteMinder installation.

Do not install Federation Manager on a system where there is an existing Apache Web Server or Apache Tomcat Server.

Do not install SiteMinder or the Secure Proxy Server on a system where Federation Manager is installed, as this might have an adverse effect on Federation Manager.

Do not install Federation Manager as the root user. If you try to install as root, the installation aborts and you receive an error message. Instead, create a new user account with the default shell as ksh to install Federation Manager.

Federation Manager cannot operate on Solaris 9 platforms using any port below 1024. This limitation includes the default Apache HTTP port (80) and the default Apache SSL port (443).

After the installation is complete, continue by running the Configuration wizard.

Important! To change the deployment mode, uninstall Federation Manager from your system before running a new installation.
