Query Wizard Simple Filter Fails with Special Characters

Symptom:

The query wizard simple filters fail when you type special characters as part of a simple filter field value. You can save and run the query with the following special characters:

( ) & * > < ? : } {

However, the query runs without that field as a filter and data displays even though the matching condition fails.

Solution:

Do not use the listed special characters as part of the simple filter field values.
