Save a Model as a .erwin File

You can save a model or submodel locally as a .erwin file. When you save a model as a .erwin file, the master mart version does not change. Changes in the .erwin file can be selectively merged back to the master version later.

Note: A model name must be less than 130 characters. Because the version name is derived from the model name (for example, <ModelName>:<version number> by <UserName> on <VersionCreateDate>), you should use model names considerably less than 130 characters in length to avoid problems with saving a model version.

To save a model as a .erwin file

  1. Click Mart, Open on the File menu.

    The Open dialog opens.

  2. Select the model that you want to save as a .erwin file and click Open.
  3. Make the appropriate changes to the model, and click Close on the File menu.

    The Close Model dialog opens.

  4. Click the Folder icon erw_hlp--Close Dialog--Browse for Dir Path--SCR on the Close Model toolbar to browse for a directory path.

    The Save As dialog opens.

  5. Select the directory and file name and click Save.

The model is saved as a .erwin file.
