Workgroup modelers who work with shared models and individual modelers who work with their own models can review their own changes before saving, view changes previously saved, and compare changes saved to two different versions. The open unlocked model can be refreshed with any changes made by another concurrent modeler.
Changes are viewed in the change list, which can be filtered by the type of change and searched to easily find any specific changes. The change list can turn off changes before saving them and resolve conflicting changes made by other modelers.
There are several variations of managing changes in the Review Changes, Conflict Resolution, Refresh Client, and Version Differences features. The variation of the dialog depends upon the operation performed to invoke it. The dialogs are very similar, but not all of the capabilities are available in each.
You can merge two or more CA ERwin DM models when you need to:
You can use the following methods to merge model objects:
The automatic merge merges the source model and target model while checking for matching object names. If two objects have the same name, you can merge the matching objects together or rename the matching objects from the other model. When you merge objects with the same name, all attributes (or columns) merge into the single object. For example, if there is a CUSTOMER entity in the current model and in the other model, one CUSTOMER entity is created in the merged model containing the attributes from both entities.
The compare option uses a wizard where you can choose filters and resolve differences just like you can in Complete Compare.
