When you work with multiple drawing objects on the diagram window, you may want to layer the objects in order to create graphics with a three dimensional effect. For example, you can layer rectangles as in the following example:
You can layer multiple drawing objects and then arrange the order to your liking. For example, if you place several drawing objects on top of one another and then decide that the object on the bottom belongs on the top, you can use the Bring to Front command to easily rearrange the layers.
You can also layer groups of model objects. For example, if you have two groups of entities, you can layer the groups in order to fit more on a page.
Note: Other commands in the model can affect your customized settings. For example, if you choose to automatically lay out your entire diagram window using the Layout option on the Diagram menu, all of the display settings for grouping, aligning, layering, or spacing objects will be overwritten.
