Define a DB2 LUW Dimension Group

Dimensions help you categorize a related set of attributes that together describes an aspect of a measure. You use the Dimension Group editor to group columns that form a dimension.

To define a dimension group

  1. Expand a Table in the Model Explorer.
  2. Right-click dimension group and select Properties.

    The DB2 for LUW Table Dimension Group Editor opens.

  3. Select dimension group and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create dimension group. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a large list of dimension groups to locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the Dimension Group.

  4. Work with the following options on the Column tab:
    property editor SORT icon

    Lets you sort the column names in alphabetical order.

    Column Editor

    Displays the DB2 for LUW Table Column editor, where you can edit the details of the column.

    Name

    Specifies the names of the columns of the selected table. Select the check box to include the column in the current dimension group.

  5. Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the dimension group.
  6. Click the Notes tab to view history information and view or edit user notes.
  7. Click Close.

    The DB2 LUW Dimension Group Editor closes.
