Define DB2 z/OS Table Synonyms

You can work with table synonym and alias names when you click the Alias & Synonym tab in the Table, View, or Materialized Query Table editor.

To define DB2 z/OS table synonyms

  1. Open the Table Editor and click the Alias & Synonym tab.
  2. Select a synonym or alias name and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a synonym or alias.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the synonym or alias.

    Schema

    Specifies the schema to associate with the synonym or alias. Select a schema name from the drop-down list.

    Label

    Specifies the description for the synonym.

    Generate As Synonym

    Creates as synonym or alias when generating DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

    DB2 Location Name

    Specifies the database (sub-system) associated with the synonym.

  3. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments you want associated with the synonym or alias.
  4. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the synonym or alias.
  5. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view history information and view or edit user notes.
  6. Click Close.

    The Table Synonym Editor closes.
