Create a Model

If an existing model does not meet your requirements, you can create a model.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click New on the File menu.

    The Create Model - Select Template dialog opens.

  2. Make your selections based on the following options:
    New Model Type

    Lets you specify to create a model with the default settings. You can create a logical, physical, or logical/physical model. If you want to create either a physical or logical/physical model, the Target Database field appears. Select the target database and version from which to create your physical or logical/physical model.

    Create Using Template

    Lets you specify to create a model using a blank template or a custom template. Select the template in the list that you want to use. If the template you need is not in the list, click the Browse File System button to locate the template file locally on your computer. Click the Browse Mart button to locate the template file in a mart.

    Note: The Browse Mart button is disabled unless you are connected to the mart.

  3. Click OK.

    The dialog closes and the model opens in the workspace. You can add model objects and change the properties of any of the model objects using the property editors.
