Physical Order Display Level

You use the Physical Order display level to display your columns in the same order in which they appear in the physical database. The Physical Order display feature allows you to mirror the physical structure of your database in the physical model. This display mode contrasts with the Column display level, which corresponds to the index order in the logical model.

Note: The physical order may not be preserved when you forward engineer a physical model. When you use the Forward Engineering tool, you can indicate physical order or column order for the generated schema. Column order is used to generate the database schema for Primary Keys and Alter statements.

You can view a diagram using the Physical Order display level when you right-click a blank area of the diagram window, select Display Level, Physical Order.
