Generate Database Schema Options

Use the Generate Database Schema dialog to generate the schema to the target DBMS.

To generate the database schema

1. Select Forward Engineer/Schema Generation on the Tools menu.

   The Schema Generation dialog opens on the Options tab.

2. Click the Generate button on the Schema Generation dialog.

   The Generate Database Schema dialog opens.

3. The schema DDL script generated for the current model is displayed. Choose from the following options:
   • Stop If Failure

     Select this check box to pause execution of the DDL script each time a problem occurs. Clear this check box to continue processing the DDL script without pausing.

   • Abort

     Cancels the schema generation process.

   • Continue

     Continues the schema generation process.

   • Pause

     Temporarily pauses the schema generation process.

   • Save

     Opens the Schema Execution Report dialog to save the schema DDL script as a .ers or .sql text file. After you save the file, you can change it in a text editor and run it against the database using a utility that interprets SQL scripts.

   • Print

     Prints a copy of the schema DDL script.

   • Find

     Opens the Find dialog to search for a text string.

   • Cut

     Cuts the text.

   • Copy

     Copies the text.

   • Paste

     Pastes the text.
