Enter a Data Movement Rule Definition

You use the Definition tab in the Data Movement Rules editor to enter a definition for a data movement rule. The definition that you enter should help any person who reads the model to understand when and how frequently data in the attached data warehouse tables is updated. You may also want to include an indication of how much time is needed to perform an update. You also use this tab to select the type of rule that you want to display in the grid using the Type Filter.

The Data Movement feature is available in a physical model when you select the Data Movement check box on the General tab in the Model Properties editor.

To enter a data movement rule definition

1. Click Data Movement Rules on the Model menu.

   The Data Movement Rules dialog opens.

2. Select or create a data movement rule in the Rule Name column, and select the Definition tab.

   On the definition tab, enter a definition for the rule.

   Click OK.

   The data movement rule is defined.
