Define SQL Server Credentials

Use the SQL Server Credential Editor to define the authentication information required for a resource that is outside of SQL Server in a SQL Server 2005/2008 physical model. Most credentials include a Windows user name and password, which are mapped to a login.

To define SQL Server credentials

  1. Click Security, Credentials on the Database menu.

The SQL Server Credential Editor opens.

  2. Select the credential in the Navigation Grid that you want to define and enter a value for the following field:

Note: Click New <New> icon in property editors on the toolbar to create a new credential.

  3. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the credential.
  4. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the credential.
  5. Click Close.

The credential is defined and the SQL Server Credential Editor closes.
