Create a Data Warehouse Source

You use the Data Warehouse Sources dialog to manually define data sources or import source information from an existing database, script file, .erwin file, CA ERwin Model Manager model, or comma-delimited flat file. The dialog is available in a physical model when you select the Data Movement check box on the General tab in the Model Properties editor.

You use the Data Warehouses Sources dialog to create a new data warehouse source.

To create a data warehouse source

1. Click in the Data Source tab of the Columns editor or the Domain Dictionary.

   The Data Warehouse Source Selector dialog opens.

2. Click Edit in the Data Warehouse Source Selector dialog.

   The Data Warehouse Sources dialog opens.

3. Click in the empty cell at the bottom of the Source Name column, and enter the source name and the following information for each source name:
   • Enter the system name, source host, and DBMS type for the source selected in the grid in the General tab.
   • Define or import the table and column names, the column datatype, and column comment for the source selected in the grid in the Detail tab.
   • Enter a definition for the source selected in the grid in the Definition tab.
4. Click OK.

   The data warehouse source is saved.
