Attach a Data Movement Rule

You use the Attachment tab in the Data Movement Rules editor to attach a data movement rule to one or more tables in a model. You use this tab to type or edit the name of the data movement rule, select the rule type, or select the type of rule that you want to display in the grid. The Unattached Tables list displays the tables to which you can attach a selected rule. You double-click a table to move it from the Unattached Tables list to the Attached Tables list.

The Data Movement feature is available in a physical model when you select the Data Movement check box on the General tab in the Model Properties editor.

To attach a data movement rule

1. Click Data Movement Rules from the Model menu.

   The Data Movement Rules dialog opens.

2. Select or create a data movement rule in the Rule Name column, and select the Attachment tab. Select any of the following options to attach the selected data movement rule to a table:
   • Double-click a table in the Unattached Tables list to move the table from the Unattached Tables list to the Attached Tables list.
   • Select a table in the Unattached Tables list, and then click to move the table from the Unattached Tables list to the Attached Tables list.
   • Click to move all tables from the Unattached Tables list to the Attached Tables list.

   Click OK.

   The data movement rule is attached to the physical model.
