When you generate a report you get a result set. can use a row in a result set that identifies an object to generate a report available for objects of that class. For example, if a result set row identifies a model, then all the reports in the Diagrams folder are available to the user for that row. For many reports, a result set row identifies several different objects, which means that there are many different reports available for that row.
You can drag a result set row to any of the available reports to generate the selected report. This helps you create a chain of related reports where each report provides more information about the objects in reports that are higher up in the hierarchy. For example, you can drag a row from the Diagrams report and drop it on the Entity report in the Diagrams Reports folder to generate a new report that shows information for each entity in the models.
When you drop a result set row onto a report icon or double-click a report in the Available Reports dialog, the Data Browser uses parameter values from the selected row to generate the report. A parameter value is typically an object identifier, but it can also be the name of an object or even a string that allows wildcard operators. Some of the predefined reports require that you enter one or more parameter values before you can generate the report.
You can open the Result Set History dialog for a list of all the result sets generated in the current CA ERwin Data Modeler and CA ERwin MM sessions in chronological order. You can then display or delete one or more of the result sets.
