Include or Exclude Ancestors or Descendants of the Selected Entity, Table, or View in the Subject Area

You can use the Spanning Neighborhood dialog to include or exclude ancestors or descendants of the selected entity, table, or view in the subject area. You can access the Spanning Neighborhood dialog from the Members tab in the Subject Areas editor.

To include or exclude ancestors or descendants of the selected entity, table, or view in the subject area

  1. Click Subject Areas on the Model menu.

    The Subject Areas editor opens.

  2. Click the Members tab.

    The Members tab opens.

  3. Select a subject area from the Subject Area list to which you want to select the members, and select the object you want to include or exclude.

    Note: You can display either the logical names or physical names for objects. Under Display Names click Logical or Physical to toggle the display.

  4. Click to include the object or click to exclude the object.

    The Spanning Neighborhood dialog opens.

  5. Make your selections for the following options, then click OK.

    The members of the subject area are defined and the Spanning Neighborhood dialog closes.

  6. Click OK.

    The Subject Areas editor closes.
