Use the options in the Complete Compare Left Model Selection dialog to select a model, script, database, model source, or CA ERwin Model Manager file that will be displayed in the left pane of the Resolve Differences dialog.
To select the left model in the Complete Compare Wizard
The Complete Compare Wizard opens.
The Left Model Selection pane opens.
Select this option to open a model from a local file. Click Load to browse for the file.
Select this option to select a script file or database. You are prompted to select the script file or database using the Reverse Engineer wizard. You use the Reverse Engineer wizard to create the list of model objects and properties in the left model pane. The selected database or script is reverse engineered to a new model in the workspace.
In order to improve performance when you reverse engineer a database or script file, the Allow Demand Loading check box is selected by default, and only the names of top-level objects (tables, views, materialized views) are loaded. This enables Complete Compare to load the database quickly since it is only comparing names at this point. When you align or perform an action on a partially loaded object in the Resolve Differences pane of the Complete Compare Wizard, the properties are fully loaded in order to complete the compare action. You can suppress this default when you clear the Allow Demand Loading check box. Clear the Allow Demand Loading check box if you plan to work with the model you reverse engineered from the database after using Complete Compare. If you do not clear Allow Demand Loading, the resulting model will only be partially loaded and will be missing the substructure of various object, tables, views, and so on.
Select this option to open a model from CA ERwin Model Manager. Before you select this option connect to the mart using the Connection Manager from the Services menu. The Library Manager opens, and you can select the model from a library.
Select this check box to load the model as read-only. When you work with the model in the Resolve Differences dialog, you cannot make changes to it. Use this feature to perform a "one-way" compare.
Click Next to continue to the next pane.
The left model selection is saved.
