To install Websphere Portal Server
If the installer does not start automatically, navigate to the CD drive and open the install.bat file.
During the installation, the wizard will prompt you to supply information. The following table lists the information you need for each package:

Websphere Portal installation directory |
Confirm that this path is correct. Note: This full installation will consume approx 4 gigabytes of disk space. Ensure that you have adequate disk space before continuing. |
System Logon User ID |
If you want to start the Websphere components as a service, define a user account that the service can log in as. |
WebSphere Portal administrative user |
Create a user name and password that you will use later to log in to the Websphere portal. This user does not need to exist within Windows: this account is internal to the portal only. |
