Prepare the CCS Servers

Before installing your CCS servers, verify that the correct features and roles are installed.

To prepare the CCS servers

Follow these steps on each CCS server:

  1. Verify that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is installed on the host server.

You can download this software from the Microsoft web site.

  2. Launch the Server Manager applet.
  3. Click the Roles branch.
    1. Expand the Web Server IIS section.
    2. If the Web Server role services are not installed, click the Add Role Services link.
    3. Select Web Server and all child role services.
    4. Click the Next button.
    5. In the Confirm Installation Selection screen, click the Install button.
  4. Click the Features branch.
    1. Click the Add Features link.
    2. Select .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features and all subfeatures.
    3. Select the Windows Process Activation Service feature and all subfeatures.

If the Web Server (IIS) role service is not already installed, Server Manager prompts you to install the Web Server (IIS) role service and the Windows Process Activation Service feature. Accept all of these.

    4. Click the Next button.

If Server Manager prompts you to 'Select the role services to install for Web Server (IIS)', add Security > Windows Authentication.

    5. Click the Next button.
    6. In the Confirm Installation Selection screen, click the Install button.
  5. Verify that the minimum required set of features and roles are installed. In Server Manager:
    1. Click the Features branch and verify that the following features are installed:
      • All the .NET Framework 3.5.1 features and subfeatures.
      • All the Windows Process Activation Service features and subfeatures.
    2. Click the Roles branch.
    3. Expand the Web Server (IIS) section and verify that the following role services are installed:
      • Web Server > Application Development > .NET Extensibility
      • Security > Windows Authentication
      • Security > Request Filtering
      • (Optional) Management Tools > IIS Management Console

Note: You only need the optional IIS Management Console role services if you want to manage the IIS server locally.

    4. Expand the Application Server section and verify that the TCP Port Sharing role service is installed.
