Socket API Requirements

To pass necessary email data to a policy engine or PE hub, the Socket API requires the Messaging API (MAPI) client libraries. If this functionality is not available, the Socket API cannot process emails received from the NBA or Milter MTA agent. The Socket API host machine requires one of the following:

• Microsoft Outlook (32-bit only)

  Outlook must be the default email application. Note also that 64-bit Outlook is not compatible with the Socket API.

• Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) 1.2.1. This typically referred to as the MAPI client and CDO 1.2.1 component.

  Download the MAPI client and CDO 1.2.1 component from the Microsoft Web site. Before you install it, ensure that Microsoft Outlook is not also installed; if it is, you must remove it.
