Database Changes Are Replicated to Child Machines

If a Type 1 or Type 2 cleanup operation amends the user tables in the CMS database, any child machines connected directly or indirectly to the CMS will automatically resynchronize their databases. This means that any database changes on the CMS are automatically replicated to all child machines. Also, because child servers always resynchronize their databases to match the CMS, you must upgrade your CMS before you upgrade your CA DLP gateways.

Important! Because this will adversely affect network performance, we strongly recommend that you schedule the CMS upgrade to run at a time of low network (and CA DLP) activity. Note that this issue only affects group history cleanup operations; audit state cleanup operations do not require database resynchronizations.
