Generally, updating projects using both Open Workbench and Microsoft Project is not the best way to share project information with other users. Both scheduler tools offer different features, and more importantly, each tool uses different models of the project schedule and produce a different scheduling results. However, you may want to use both Open Workbench and Microsoft Project when you want to permanently transfer from one tool to the other.
Keep in mind that both Open Workbench and Microsoft Project have data that the other tool cannot represent. This data cannot be retrieved when opening the project from CA Clarity PPM. For example, you cannot see any of Microsoft Project's user text fields in Open Workbench. Conversely, you cannot see Open Workbench's scheduling options, such as Lock for Scheduling and Max % in Microsoft Project.
