Unlock and Hold Locks on Projects (Microsoft Project)

A lock is placed on a project when you open it in Read/Write mode. In general, projects are unlocked when they are closed in Microsoft Project including when you exit Microsoft Project with the projects still open.

Unlock a project from Microsoft Project

You can unlock a project from Microsoft Project.

With the project open in Microsoft, save it to CA Clarity PPM. Close the project without saving it in Microsoft Project. The project is unlocked.

Unlock a project from CA Clarity PPM

You can unlock a project directly from CA Clarity PPM. When the user whose lock you drop tries to save the project back to CA Clarity PPM, a message appears letting the user know the project is not locked. The user can force a save.

You must have administrator rights to drop another user's lock.

To unlock a project from CA Clarity PPM

  1. In CA Clarity PPM, go to the Projects page and click the name of the project you want to open.

    The Project Properties: Main page displays. If the project is locked by another user, an alert appears indicating the project is locked by a user.

  2. Click Unlock.

    The project locked is dropped.
