Define Teradata Users

You can use the User Id editor to define database users and their respective properties in a Teradata physical model.

To define Teradata users

  1. Click Users on the Database menu.

    The User Id Editor opens.

  2. Select a User Id and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New <New> icon in property editors on the toolbar to create a new User Id.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the user id.

    From Database

    Specifies the database or user that this was created from. Select from the drop-down.

    Generate

    Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

  3. Work with the following fields on the General tab:
    Permanent

    Specifies whether the user is permanent.

    Spool

    Specifies the number of bytes for the spool files.

    Temporary

    Specifies the number of storage bytes allocated for temporary tables.

    Collation

    Specifies the collation value for a Teradata database User ID. Select from the drop-down. Valid options are: ASCII, EBCDIC, Multinational, Host, Character Set Collation, or JIS Collation.

    Character Set Type

    Specifies the character set type. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are: Latin, Unicode, Kanji-Shift JIS, Graphic or Kanji1.

    Date Form

    Specifies the format of the date. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are: Integer, Ansi, or Null.

    Default Database

    Specifies the default database for the user. Select from the drop-down.

    Default Role Type

    Specifies the default role type. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are: Role, None, or All.

    Default Role

    Specifies the default role. Select from the drop-down.

    Fallback Protection

    Specifies the type of fallback protection for the database. Select from the drop-down.

    Profile

    Specifies the Teradata profile for this user. Select from the drop-down.

    Startup

    Specifies the SQL statements to establish a session environment at logon.

    Time Zone

    Specifies the time zone.

  4. Work with the other tabs in the editor to access additional design features, for example:
  5. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments you want associated with the user.
  6. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the user.
  7. Click Close.

    The User Id Editor closes.
