Define Teradata Roles

You can use the Role editor to create or edit a role that is used for managing user access permissions on database objects in a Teradata physical model.

To define Teradata roles

  1. Click Roles on the Database menu.

    The Role Editor opens.

  2. Select a role and work with the following options:

Note: Click New <New> icon in property editors on the toolbar to create a new authorization.

    Name

Specifies the name of the role.

    Is External

Specifies whether the role is an internal role or an external.

    Generate

Generates DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

Note: You need to have multiple roles defined in order to associate roles with other roles.

After you define multiple roles, a role name you select in the non-scrolling region of the editor can be associated with a role name on the Roles tab. On the Roles tab, select the check box next to the role name, and optionally select the check box to indicate the With Admin Option.

  3. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments you want associated with the role.
  4. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the role.
  5. Click Close.

    The Role Editor closes.
