Apply Transforms to Model Objects

You can apply a transform to a model object to refine and optimize a design layer. Applying a transform to a model object is a multi-step process.

To apply a transform to a model object

  1. Select the model objects that you want to transform and click the appropriate button in the Transforms toolbar.
  2. Follow the instructions in the Transform Wizard
  3. Review the results of the transform in the workspace.
  4. You can also review and modify properties for a transform in the Model Explorer. Right-click the transform name and choose Properties to display the Modify Properties for Transform dialog.

You can also apply a transform to an existing transform to create a nested transform. If you want to add a new transform that would be based on some objects already involved in another transform, then the first transform has to be in target mode. The target objects of the first transform become the source objects for the next transform. Repeat the process above, applying the new transform to an existing transform.

Important: When you attempt to apply a new transform on some source objects of an existing transform then the corresponding toolbar buttons are disabled. However, if you switch the first transform to be showing targets then the toolbar buttons become enabled as the new transform is now allowed.
