In a physical model, you can use the options in the Constraint tab in the Domain Dictionary dialog to specify the validation rule and default value information associated with a domain.
To specify a validation rule and default value for a domain
The Domain Dictionary dialog opens.
The Constraint tab opens.
Adds or modifies a validation constraint.
Displays the name of the validation rule attached to the domain. Select a different validation rule to apply to the selected domain. The validation rules can be created, modified, or deleted using the Validation Rules editor.
Click the
button to open the Validation Rules editor.
Adds or modifies a default value.
Displays the name of the default rule attached to the selected domain. Select a different default to apply to the selected domain. The default rules can be created, modified, or deleted using the Default Values dialog.
Click the
button to open the Default/Initial Values dialog.
Note: In addition to these standard options, you are provided with additional datatype, column storage, and display property support for some target servers, including Access, DB2 iSeries, Progress, and Teradata databases. For Oracle, a grid appears under the Validation Constraint section where you can add validation rules using the Validation Rules editor, and you can open the Oracle Constraint State Dialog to set additional constraint properties.
Validation rules and default values are specified, and the Domain Dictionary dialog closes.
