Subsystems

A subsystem (option 3.1) is a collection of programs that provides services to z/OS and the jobs that run under the control of z/OS. An example of a subsystem is the job entry subsystem (JES) that controls the entry of jobs into z/OS and the printing or punching of output. CA ACF2 is a subsystem. IMS and CICS can be run as subsystems.
