CA Auditor is an important part of the CA Common Services for z/OS strategy and incorporates the principles of CA Common Services for z/OS. For example, CA Auditor provides a user‑friendly interface between the auditor or data center personnel and the complex z/OS environment. Further, CA Auditor gives you simple explanations of complicated concepts. As such, CA Auditor is both an audit tool and a training tool. And because CA Auditor is designed to provide an independent view of the z/OS operating system, it does not affect system performance in any way.
CA Auditor offers a unique contribution of its own to CA Common Services for z/OS through CAIPVI. CAIPVI is a CA Common Services for z/OS component that provides a means for applications to identify themselves and return important audit information to CA Auditor. A complete description of CAIPVI is contained in the next section.
