Subsystems

A subsystem is a collection of programs that provides services to jobs running under the control of z/OS and to z/OS itself. z/OS supplies the job entry subsystem (JES2 or JES3). Each subsystem is assigned a four-character name and defined to z/OS. Subsystems are defined by the IEFSSNxx logical parmlib members. Subsystems can also be dynamically defined any number of ways. For information about subsystems, see the Usage Guide.
