Retaining the User Profile Database

The user profile database, prefix.EXAMINE.DBASE1 (or prefix.CAIDBS1 for SMP/E installations), stores all user description records, including your name and job function, and all system analysis data CA Auditor retains. The installation program automatically allocates and initializes the user profile database.

Make a backup copy of the user profile database periodically to ensure that the data CA Auditor retained is available for review later, even if new versions of CA Auditor are installed. For information, see the appendix “Backing Up the User Profile Database”.

If you are installing a new version of CA Auditor, you can retain the user profile database. (When variables or the location of an CA Auditor function changes in a new release, batch scripts from previous releases may not work.)

When you run the installation program and reuse the previously selected prefix value, the user profile database is not replaced. The installation program issues a message to confirm that CA Auditor retained the earlier user profile database. (In the SMP/E installation, a new CAIDBS1 database is created by running the optional ALLCDBS1 job supplied on the distribution tape. Sites that decide to retain their old CAIDBS1 database can skip running this job.)
