Invoking CA Auditor

CA Auditor runs as an ISPF/PDF application program under the control of TSO or TSO/E.

There are several methods that can be used to provide access to CA Auditor. Which method you use depends on the intended use of CA Auditor within your organization. The following are some typical uses:

• Installations wishing wide-spread use of CA Auditor may modify one of their primary ISPF selection panels to offer it as a choice.
• Installations wishing limited use of CA Auditor may require that authorized users gain access using special procedures. For example, different TSO logon procedures or using special invocation procedures.

Three methods are available to acquire the data sets needed to execute CA Auditor:

• Within an existing TSO/ISPF session: EXAMLIBD REXX EXEC

  This sample REXX EXEC:

  • Uses z/OS, TSO, and ISPF services to make CA Auditor data sets available for use within an active TSO/ISPF session.
  • Invokes CA Auditor.
  • Uses z/OS, TSO, and ISPF services to release the acquired data sets.

  You can use this REXX EXEC directly within ISPF as a command or imbedded in a menu selection panel or another CLIST/REXX (as might be invoked under a selection panel process).

  To use the EXAMLIBD REXX EXEC, you must include the PRODHLQ.CAJ0CLS0 clist data set within your SYSPROC concatenation, or you must copy the EXAMLIBDD REXX EXEC to a data set within your SYSPROC concatenation. You must also make the CA Auditor load library available for use using one of the following:

  • Inclusion in the TSO session’s ISPLLIB concatenation.

    Note: You cannot use the LIBDEF service to allocate the CAI.EXAMINE.CAJ0LOAD data set to the ISPLLIB library type. Attempts to do so will result in S806 abends upon invoking CA Auditor.

  • Inclusion in the TSO LOGON procedure’s STEPLIB concatenation.
  • Inclusion in the system LPA.
  • Inclusion in the system linklist.
• Logon Procedure JCL Updates

  In most data centers, systems programmers create TSO logon procedures for their users. For information on the logon procedure updates needed to support CA Auditor, see the chapter “Technical Considerations” . This technique is convenient if CA Auditor is available as a standard ISPF/PDF application.

• EXAMSTRT CLIST

  Use this method to dynamically acquire the proper data sets without modifying the TSO logon procedure.

  Before using this method, please review the EXAMSTRT clist in the CAI.PRODHLQ.CAJ0CLS0 data set and ensure that the load library specified in the CALL statement matches up with the name specified as part of your installation process. Make changes as appropriate at this time.

Follow these steps:

1. Log on to TSO. If the data center created a new logon procedure to support CA Auditor users, specify the procedure using the PROC operand of the LOGON command.

   TSO responds with the READY prompt.

2. (Optional) If the logon procedure does not include allocations for the CA Auditor data sets:
   1. Exit ISPF/PDF.

      The TSO READY prompt is displayed.

   2. Enter the command:

      EXEC 'prefix.EXAMINE.CLIST(EXAMSTRT)'
      

      The CA Auditor data sets are acquired.

   The CA Auditor data sets remain allocated for the remainder of the TSO session. Exiting and entering CA Auditor or ISPF/PDF does not affect these allocations.

3. (Optional) If the logon procedure supports CA Auditor, enter the ISPF command from TSO READY.

   The ISPF/PDF panel is displayed.

4. Begin the CA Auditor session.
   • If the data center added an CA Auditor menu option, select that option.
   • If CA Auditor is not on the ISPF/PDF Primary Option Menu, enter the command:

     TSO %EXAMINE
     

   The first time a new user runs CA Auditor, the system presents a tutorial.
