Installation Prerequisites

The CA ARCserve Backup Agent for Oracle is a client application that is installed on the Oracle server or to a local drive on each node of an Oracle Fail Safe Cluster.

Before installing the agent, verify the following prerequisites:

• Your system meets the software requirements needed to install the agent.

  For a list of these requirements, see the Readme.

• You have the following applications installed and working properly:
  • The CA ARCserve Backup base product.

    Note: CA ARCserve Backup and the agent can be installed on different computers. For example, you can install CA ARCserve Backup on a local computer and the agent on a remote computer.

  • Windows operating system
  • Oracle Server
• If you do not use the default installation path, make a note of the installation path you use for easy reference, oracle instance name, dbusername and password for agent configuration.
• If you are installing the agent on nodes in an Oracle Fail Safe Cluster environment, make a note of the Oracle Fail Safe Cluster computer names and the Oracle Fail Safe Cluster login IDs and passwords.
• You have administrative privileges or the proper authority to install software on the computers where you will be installing the agent.

  Note: Contact your CA ARCserve Backup administrator to obtain the proper privileges if you do not have them.
