UNIX and Linux Data Mover lets you back up Oracle data to locally attached file system devices and tape libraries that are shared with the primary server. This capability lets you transfer data via local communication, which helps to reduce the load on your network.
To back up data at Oracle database granularity, you must install the Agent for Oracle on the data mover servers.
