Prerequisite Components

The agent requires the following prerequisite components.

• This release of CA ARCserve Backup Agent for Virtual Machines.
• For VMware environments, verify that Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2 or higher is installed and running on the backup proxy system.
• To integrate with VMware vSphere, verify that the following components are installed on the backup proxy systems:
  • For the general availability release of the agent, VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) 1.2.1 or later, VMware VCB Framework 1.5 Update 1, or both.
  • For all updates and patches that are released after the general availability release of the agent, VDDK 5.0.

  Note: The general availability (GA) release of the agent installs VDDK 1.2.1 on systems where you install the agent. All updates and patches that are released after the GA release install VDDK 5.0 on systems where you install the agent.
