Scenarios for Restoring to an Alternate Server

For faster disaster recovery, you may prefer restoring the Oracle database to a different server than the original server. In this section, we present scenarios as examples for restoring to alternate servers:

• Scenario 1 - The alternate server can support the exact directory structures of the original Oracle server.
• Scenario 2 - The alternate server cannot support the exact directory structures of the original Oracle Server. For example, the destination server does not have a volume (such as drive f:) that the original server had.
• Scenario 3 - Restore to an alternate location using the SAP BACKINT agent.
