Unable to Restore QTree Information Using the NDMP NAS Option

Symptom:

CA ARCserve Backup cannot restore Qtree information when I select only the folder that represents the Qtree information from the backup session, and the entire volume is selected.

Solution:

You can use any of the following solutions:

• Restore the entire volume from the backup sessions with the entire volume selected.
• Set the following registry key value to restore the qtree information properly.

  Key:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA ARCserve Backup\NASAgent\Parameters
  

  Value Name:

  bForceSelectiveFileRestore
  

  Type:

  DWORD
  

  Value:

  1 (Default is 0)
  

  Note: After you set the above registry key, CA ARCserve Backup records the following message in the Activity Log when the restore job runs:

  At least one of the source files or directories selected does not support direct positioning, using Selective file restore instead.
