Network-based Backups

CA ARCserve Backup enables you to back up most machines attached to your network.

For complete system backups of non-Windows systems, use CA ARCserve Backup in conjunction with the appropriate CA Technologies Client Agent. The CA ARCserve Backup Client Agent for Windows is also available for more efficient backups of Windows machines. CA Technologies Backup Agents allow you to back up and restore complete databases, such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL. The following software is integrated into the base product to enhance the backup capabilities of CA ARCserve Backup:

• Built-in Small Changer Support--Enables you to use a small changer for backup jobs (one tape drive with an unlimited number of slots).

The following additional software options are also available to enhance the backup capabilities of CA ARCserve Backup:

• Image Option--To perform high-speed image backups.
• Tape Library Option:--To use an autochanger with your backup rotation.
• Tape RAID Option--To configure tape RAIDs for high-speed backups.
