CA ARCserve Backup Loses Its Connection to a Remote System
Symptom:
CA ARCserve Backup sometimes loses connection to a remote system while executing a backup job.
Solution:
If a file on the remote system being backed up takes a long time to synchronize—for example, if it is written to continuously by an application—the host system (the one on which you are running CA ARCserve Backup) can time out, leading to a lost connection.
There are two possible solutions:
The Registry Editor opens.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/
LanmanWorkstation/Parameters
For example, if File Sync Timeout is set to 60 seconds, set SessTimeout to 70 seconds. If SessTimeout does not exist, create it as a new REG_DWORD value.
Important! Be very careful when editing the Windows Registry. Incorrectly modifying registry settings can cause your system to become unstable. For assistance, contact CA Support at http://ca.com/support.
