File servers can support a number of different file systems, each corresponding to a different client operating system. A system of file naming is called a namespace, and it embodies all the conventions for file naming, wildcard symbols, and so on.
Use the File Namespace drop-down list to choose the namespace within which the new file or directory name will be selected. In most cases, you should select NT. This namespace supports both long and short file-name formats.
