- Select Device Configuration and choose Tape/Optical Library.
The CA ARCserve Backup Tape/Optical Library Setup screen appears.
- Use the Auto Config Tool, or manually highlight and assign the drives within the libraries to the respective library in which it resides.
Assigning a drive to a library allows CA ARCserve Backup to recognize the drive's existence within the library. Usually the library is configured by the manufacturer in such a way that the first library drive has the lowest SCSI ID number, and the last library drive has the highest SCSI ID number.
Note: This is not always the case. Refer to the documentation that came with your library for information on how its drives are configured.
- Click Next to continue. The Step 2 of 3 setup window appears.
- Highlight the library you wish to configure and click Properties.
This window allows you to specify which slot holds the cleaning media and if a bar code reader is installed. (The latter is for media libraries only)
- Click OK to close the Properties window.
- Click Next to continue. The Step 3 of 3 setup window appears.
The following advanced options are available:
- Library Quick Initialization--When this feature is enabled, it allows CA ARCserve Backup to skip the library inventory process that is automatically activated when the Tape Engine is started. When this feature is disabled (the default), the entire library is inventoried each time CA ARCserve Backup is started.
- Mark Drives Online/Offline--Allows you to mark defective drives (in a multi- drive library) as offline. CA ARCserve Backup continues to operate using the remaining non-defective drives. When the drive is repaired or replaced, it can be brought online.
- Click Next to continue.
The setup summary displays the choice you made during setup.
- Click Finish to complete library device configuration.
